Over decades, One Piece has followed Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy with dreams of becoming the Pirate King, as he sets out to find the world’s ultimate treasure. Luffy is seen as the fearless captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, and on his journey to becoming the Pirate King, he’s faced with his fair share of adversity.

Though One Piece asks for a lot of commitment from viewers, in return, it leaves them enchanted by Oda-sensei’s narrative and Luffy’s journey. In addition to the anime’s record-breaking success, the One Piece live-action series on Netflix is also gaining significant attention online.

Defying popular opinion and expectations, One Piece Live Action emerged as a meticulously crafted series that caters to both pre-existing and new fans. With the growing hype for Season 2, Netflix has just released an exclusive interview with Eiichiro Oda, where he shared his intriguing insights on our beloved Luffy.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece live-action is arguably the most successful Netflix anime-adaptation series. With fans eagerly anticipating the debut of Portgas D. Ace, Season 2 will introduce Miss Wednesday, who joins Luffy’s crew for a short time.

Netflix’s OP Season 1 received tons of applause for their casting as each Straw Hat member beautifully brought fans’ beloved characters to life. It’s already confirmed that Season 2 will feature Luffy and his crew’s venture from Logue-Town to Drum Island.

Unfortunately, fans need to wait a bit longer to see the adorable Chopper on screen. Even after 30 years, One Piece fans aren’t tired of following the adventures of this young and enthusiastic boy, eagerly awaiting the return of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Luffy has always been portrayed as a goofy character who relies on his intuition and gut instincts, even when making important decisions for himself and his crewmates. However, this trait is precisely what has endeared Luffy to fans of the series.

Interestingly, Oda-sensei recently opened up about his deep connection to Luffy, sharing how much he cherishes the character and the significance he holds. In an interview with Iñaki Godoy, the actor who plays Luffy in Netflix’s live-action series, Oda shared:

Luffy is an ideal child for me. When you become an adult and join a company, you can’t always do what you want to do. Entering society often means losing freedom. Luffy has a child’s heart, so he does whatever he wants. That aspect is probably for adults always toiling in society, and to children about to enter society, what makes Luffy so appealing.

Luffy is a jolly individual with a passion for voyages and adventures, making him a character that captivates the audience and inspires them. He is funny and entertaining and his abilities (his Devil Fruit powers) are also fun.

Though he’s nineteen, Luffy remains a child at heart, full of innocence and devoid of any malice. Oda has developed Luffy’s character in such a way that it is flabbergasting to notice how Luffy has grown so much as a person, yet he is still the same as he was when the story began.

Saint Saturn’s failed attempt to capture Monkey D. Luffy

During the Egghead Island Arc, the Five Elder’s immense strength left many fans questioning whether Luffy’s crew could triumph over their opponents. However, thanks to Joyboy’s surprising assistance, Luffy and his crew managed to escape Egghead Island from the Five Elders.

On top of that, Joyboy’s Conqueror Haki single-handedly made Imu, the secret ruler of the entire One Piece world, bend a knee and let fear take over despite being miles away from the battlefield. With the latest manga development, Eiichiro Oda has crowned Joyboy as the strongest Conqueror’s Haki user.

Joyboy’s Haki even nullified Imu’s devil fruit power and teleported Four Elders back to Mary Geoise. Imu was so furious after sensing Joyboy’s Haki that he instantly assassinated Saint Saturn for the mission’s failure.
