If Luffy ever had to face Shanks, he would already be at an emotional crossroads, which would be an additional layer of difficulty to that fight. However, Bonney’s presence can change the game if she uses her Future Distortion powers in an interesting way.

This possibility makes not only Bonney reach Luffy’s level, but the rest of the Straw Hats as well. Here’s how Bonney might turn into the most powerful ally for the Straw Hats.

Bonney’s Devil Fruit Powers Surprised Us in Egghead

During Egghead, we saw Bonney going all out alongside the Straw Hats as she achieved something nobody even knew was possible. Her Devil Fruit, Toshi Toshi no Mi, grants her the ability to alter people’s ages, including her own and she often uses this ability to weaken her opponents by turning them into helpless children or sluggish adults.

However, she made interesting use of her powers by achieving the same form as Luffy’s Gear 5. This is a rather peculiar way in which she can use her powers. She can achieve any future for herself as long as she’s able to envision it. While we have only seen her using this power on herself, just like her other powers, she should be able to use it on others as well and if that’s a possibility, she can bring out an entirely different side of the Straw Hats.

Bonney’s Devil Fruit Powers Could Benefit the Entire Straw Hat Crew Against Shanks’ Red Hair Pirates

This YouTube short explains how Bonney could bring out the Gear 5 characteristics with all the Straw Hats. However, there’s a catch. When Bonney envisions a future of freedom for the rest of the Straw Hats, it might look very different from Gear 5. Gear 5 is Luffy’s peak so far in One Piece and for Bonney, she had always looked up to Nika.

So when she envisioned complete freedom for herself, she turned into Nika. For every Straw Hat, their peak and freedom could mean different things. Instead of turning all of them into variations of Nika, she could bring out the best in them. To make that possible, Bonney has to envision it, for her freedom means Nika.

If she grows closer to the Straw Hats, she will be able to understand their personal motivations and their idea of freedom. This might aid her in bringing their best forms to life, and for opponents as strong as Shanks’ Red Hair Pirates, the Straw Hats need to put their best foot forward and Bonney can help in achieving it.

As interesting as this possibility is, most members of the Straw Hats hate taking the easy way out. And, it’s hard to imagine characters like Sanji and Zoro allowing someone else to bring out the best in them. If they fight, it will always be fair and square. While it’s true that Eiichiro Oda gave Bonney one of the most overpowered abilities in One Piece, we will probably never see it being used like this
