One Piece fans leave positive comments following their interview.
In 2020, when it was announced that Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is going to have a live-action series based on the manga series, it raised many eyebrows. The fans worried that the series was going to take a series hit in popularity; after all, anime live adaptations had a notorious reputation for deviating from the source material.

However, that was not the case with the show because it defenestrated all the negative notions following its release. But that was not all it did because it started a trend, where almost every popular franchise started having its own live-action series. The live-action has been working heavily on its second season, where it has added names like Lera Abova and Joe Manganiello to its already star-studded cast, and it’s returning soon to break more records.

There’s no denying that Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece brings immense joy to its viewers; each week the fans would eagerly tune in to watch the anime and read the manga, respectively. However, the same reaction was not shown by the fans when Netflix announced how their favorite adventure series is coming to their OTT screens, as a live-action version is going to take place.

Though having mixed reasons at first, with some minor criticism following the characters, fans soon felt that the adaptation was one of the best things that has happened to the series. The cast, comprising names like Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Taz Skylar, became household names, which even made the manga author fawn over their popularity.
Following the immense success of the series, season 2’s production was started. Recently, Iñaki Godoy, the actor who portrays the role of Monkey D. Luffy, learned Japanese to sit down with Oda-Sensei via the official X account of Netflix to give its fandom a sneak peek into what to expect in the second season.

The interview commenced with the actor expressing his happiness to finally learn Japanese to sit down and have a chat with the manga artist. Soon, followed by asking him if it was his first time on the set. Oda-Sensei replied, “It is,” and then stated how he got to see some actual filming, praising the work that went behind it, “especially the props, massive sets, special effects, the making of wigs and costumes, the stunts.”
He further added,
I saw so many things and was truly touched by everyone’s dedication.
The statement has elevated the hope among the fans because Eiichiro Oda would be personally involved in ensuring that the necessary standards are met to make sure that his series does not take a dent in terms of popularity.

The interview also featured the actor asking about the wild challenges present in the Grand Line, how complex the character of Monkey D. Luffy is, and how, on the surface, he looks like a silly boy trying to be the King of the Pirates.

The interview was indeed a “rare treasure,” where both of them had a great time talking to each other, and even the fans were delighted to see the mangaka laughing, especially after how his health alarmed the fans. The fandom was soon summoned to the interview clip, where they left warm comments following their talk.
With so much complexity following the protagonist, how Oda-Sensei considers Luffy to be his “ideal child,” and the epic story that is yet to be told on our mini-screens has got the fans tingling, hoping they could get their hands soon on the sequel season of the show.
