One Piece Chapter 1134: “Owl Library”
Chapter 1134 of One Piece brings plenty of excitement, heartfelt moments, and intriguing developments as the Straw Hat crew ventures further into the mysteries of Elbaph. Here’s the full summary:
Cover Story
The chapter’s cover story features the Straw Hat crew donning winter gear, aiming rifles, and riding a giant Franky robot that flies over the sea (akin to Astro Boy’s pose). Franky’s robot has the same body as Franky but with added wings. A flag on its left shoulder reads: “We are eternal.” This cover story celebrates Kazuki Yao (Franky’s Japanese voice actor), who has officially stepped down from his role.
Chapter Highlights
1. Luffy meets Saul
The chapter begins with Luffy meeting Saul for the first time. Robin introduces him to Saul.
Saul: “Luffy! Saul-ossan! I understand that one of my underlings has been under your care! You have my appreciation!! Allow me to introduce myself!!”
Luffy’s attempt to speak like a Yakuza results in hilarity for the crew, who have no idea where he’s picked up this way of speaking.
Sanji: “Where did you even learn that from?”
Luffy: “Please gave us…”
Robin interrupts with: “This is Luffy.”
Saul: “Desrehishishi! I know!! Luffy is a big name! You have met good people! Robin! You will finally have found them, right?”
Robin: “Yes, the nakama who will protect someone like me!”
The entire Straw Hat crew (excluding Luffy, Zoro, and Jinbei) begins crying, imagining how much they will protect Robin moving forward.
2. Vegapunk’s Clone and Elbaph Plans
Lilith introduces herself as a full replica of Dr. Vegapunk. Unlike the “Satellites,” she is the “complete replica” of Vegapunk himself. She explains that the government grew suspicious of “Stella” after his disappearance 20 years ago, forcing her to preserve his body in the “nutrient medium.”
Lilith reveals her plan to build a new laboratory in Elbaph to revive Vegapunk fully and also to cure Kuma.
3. The Owl Library
The giants offer the Straw Hats a tour of the grand “Owl Library,” a sacred location resembling Ohara’s library but on a much grander scale. Saul shares how he rescued the books from Ohara after the Buster Call incident and managed to safeguard them in Elbaph.
Robin, overwhelmed with emotion, exclaims: “These are the books from Ohara, now in giant size! This is the mysterious ‘Owl Library’ where the books grow upon entering!”
Inside the Owl Library, they find a room filled with giant bookshelves, enormous tree branches, and lush greenery. Saul warns Robin to handle the books carefully. One book Robin holds suddenly grows larger than herself as she opens it.
Robin: “This library is protected by Elbaph warriors! A treasure beyond measure!”
4. Ripley and the Warriors’ Spring
Meanwhile, Luffy and Usopp meet Ripley, a giant girl who claims to be the last descendant of Elbaph’s warriors. Ripley explains her love for warriors and their honorable way of life. The group encounters “Warrior’s Spring,” where children play games that resemble battles.
Ripley: “King Harald wanted Elbaph to become a peaceful nation that does trades and negotiations instead of war. That’s why he didn’t get along well with elders of Elbaph villages. After ‘King Harald’ was killed by his own kin, Elbaph has no king.”
Ripley finds Luffy’s presence inspiring and wishes she could’ve seen him during his Gear Fifth transformation.
5. Cut to the Underworld
The chapter cuts away to Loki, who is speaking with a timid individual named Mosa. Mosa remarks about his fear of Loki’s sharp words, but it’s evident Loki respects him deeply. Loki and Mosa seem to share a bond born of mutual trust despite their contrasting personalities.
6. The Western Village’s Celebration
The Straw Hats return to the “Western Village” of Elbaph to find Dorry, Brogy, and other giants preparing a celebration for their arrival. The giants are indulging in heavy drinking.
Giants: “Hey! The party hasn’t started yet! We’re killing time through drinking!”
7. Cliffhanger
As lightning strikes the village, a large magic circle appears at the throne room. Two mysterious hooded figures emerge. The first resembles “Shanks,” while the second appears to be a one-eyed woman. The chapter ends with a message from the editor:
“We have invaders!!”
