One Piece: Oda is Saving Sengoku’s True Ability for the Best Redemption Arc That Involves the Show’s Greatest Villain

Despite being a former Fleet Admiral in One Piece, Sengoku has barely shown his raw power. If this fan-favorite antagonist joins the Cross Guild, this might just change.

SUMMARY

Sengoku, the former Fleet Admiral, was also the father figure of Donquixote Rosinante, who was murdered by his own brother, Doflamingo.
Doflamingo is a fan-favorite choice to join the Cross Guild, a group that Sengoku is adamant about taking down.
Sengoku might get the final push to do something and get revenge for Rosinante and show the true powers of his rare Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit.

Sengoku was the former Fleet Admiral in One Piece, who has been disliked since Ace’s execution during the Marineford Arc. As much as fans might partly blame him for his death, he’s also proven himself to be a complex character.

Despite his compliance with the corrupt navy system, Sengoku has shown to be a compassionate and empathetic man. He took in Donquixote Rosinante, also known as Corazon, as his son when he was alone and grieving his father’s death. He was also devastated when Rosinante was murdered.

So it’s a surprise to fans that the man hasn’t lifted a single finger against his killer, Donquixote Doflamingo. However, this might change if Doflamingo joins this notorious group in One Piece.

Will Sengoku take action against Doflamingo if he joins the Cross Guild?

Sengoku has voiced the need to strike down the Cross Guild, led by Mihawk, Crocodile, and Buggy. They issue bounties on Marines, putting even the “peacemakers” of One Piece in danger of being hunted down, fearing for their own lives now.

It’s also been long theorized that the Cross Guild’s next member will be Doflamingo. He’s a powerful former Warlord who knows more about the world than he lets on too. He’d be the most valuable asset to the guild for his disdain of the World Government but the two founders might keep him on tight leash.

Now that Sengoku isn’t a Fleet Admiral and Doflamingo isn’t a Warlord, he has free reign to bring justice to Rosinante and actually take action instead of barking orders. On the possibility that Doflamingo does join them, One Piece fans on Reddit debate whether this will be enough for Sengoku to finally hunt the Cross Guild down.

Sengoku’s rare Devil Fruit, Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu, might show its full force if he faces the former Warlord. Considering it turns him into a giant gold Buddha, it’s an easy win. It’s a fight worth waiting for and a much-needed redemption arc after his actions in Marineford.

Sengoku vs Doflamingo is an unlikely but exciting theory. While the retired Marine should get revenge against Dofalmingo for killing his adoptive son, this theory relies on too many hypotheticals.

However, there is one other theory about Sengoku that still relates to Rosinante. During the Dressrosa Arc, he lets Trafalgar Law go after finding out his connection with Corazon. With this, fans have theorized Law and the former Fleet Admiral might team up to rescue Garp and defeat Blackbeard.

Considering Law’s previous loss to Blackbeard, Sengoku might sacrifice himself for the young pirate for the sake of Rosinante.

A different theory states he could sacrifice himself for Garp. While these two theories aren’t as compelling as defeating Doflamingo, any of them would change the fans’ perspective on Sengoku.
