“One Piece: Oda Sensei Risks Huge Backlash if Kizaru Becomes the Sole Marine to Defect After Egghead!”

After Eiichiro Oda confirmed that Kizaru might be working against the World Government in One Piece, there is a chance there might be others too.

SUMMARY

One of the most shocking aspects of the Egghead Island arc was Kizaru defecting from the World Government.
It gave fans hope that he might fight against the World Government in the final war.
However, there is a possibility that he might not be the only one.

The first arc of the final saga in One Piece, the Egghead Island arc, was a banger in almost every aspect. Be it the uncovering of some major mysteries or the battles against the Five Elders, Egghead proved its worth and will surely go down as one of the best arcs in One Piece. However, the biggest twist of the arc would probably be Kizaru defecting from the World Government.

For those who don’t know, Kizaru has either decided or already has been against the decisions of the World Government and the Marines. This was first hinted at when Kizaru wavered against the orders that he was given by his superiors to kill Vegapunk and destroy Egghead Island. But during the conclusion of the series, Oda seemingly confirmed it.

Nevertheless, Kizaru’s defecting post-Egghead was an outcome that a lot of One Piece fans already anticipated. But there is a chance that he might not be the only one who will move against the World Government. There is a chance that the two CP0 agents who got saved at the end, Lucci and Kaku, might also change sides as the final war of One Piece approaches.

Eiichiro Oda confirmed Kizaru’s defecting

One of the biggest mysteries of the Egghead Island arc was how Luffy got access to food when he was tired after fighting the Five Elders. In the Q&A of SBS Volume 110, the One Piece manga creator gave an answer to it in the most cryptic way possible. However, it confirmed that Kizaru was the one who helped Luffy get back on his feet and battle the Five Elders.

Oda stated:

In chapter 1103, he suddenly starts eating. Who on Earth responded to Luffy’s please for “meat…”? Was it Sanji or Franky, who were nearby? Kizaru and Sentomaru were there too… It seems like nobody found out. In other words, their actions went unnoticed, like it was done at the “speed of light”. Hmm. I don’t know either. Speed of light…

According to Oda, Kizaru was silently rooting for Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to win against the Five Elders and escape. This confirmed that he is not on the evil side of the Marines and might become a big aid in the final One Piece war.

Kizaru’s defecting is certainly big and shocking news considering the fact that he is an Admiral and sits at the top of the Navy’s authority chain. This also gives hope to the speculation about the Navy turning against the World Government to liberate the One Piece world.

Kizaru may not be the only one to turn against the World Government

Although it is a far-fetched speculation, it looks like Kizaru might not be the only character who might have changed sides after the Egghead Island arc in One Piece. There is reason to believe that along with Kizaru, CP0 agents Rob Lucci and Kaku might also step out of the war against pirates or might even change sides completely.

This speculation comes from the fact that not only did Lucci and Kaku team up with Luffy and Zoro to fight against the Seraphim, but they also let Stussy go, who was essentially a traitor. She was acting to be their colleague and friend, and even though Lucci was against it, Kaku decided to spare her and move on with his life.

Also, after seeing the level of Luffy’s strength, Lucci might decide to stop pursuing Nico Robin and might just free himself from the clutches of the World Government. Although going against them might be too much to hope for, fans can certainly assume that Eiichiro Oda won’t bring Lucci back against Luffy in One Piece now.
