Thanks to Jump Festa 2025, fans got Oda’s yearly message, and this time around, he teased certain developments surrounding the Elbaf Arc. Oda’s message focused on multiple aspects of this Arc and teased different developments. And, of course, one of these developments was pertaining to the country of Elbaf itself.

The One Piece anime is on a break. However, a return date is now confirmed for the Egghead arc.

Fans know that this arc is going to be absolutely massive, with the potential of being the very best in the entire series. With that said, it doesn’t surprise the fans that this message needs to be dissected and the true hidden meaning that Oda left behind needs to be understood.

It is no surprise to see that Oda left a very long and cryptic message for the fans during Jump Festa 2025. Usually, Oda addresses the fans directly during Jump Festa, and he takes this opportunity to tease various exciting events from the upcoming year so that the excitement among the fans stays high. He did something similar this year as well, and this does not come as a surprise to any fan. Here’s what Oda had to say in One Piece’s Jump Festa stage:

SUUUUUUUUUUUUUPER!!! Yao-san! I’ll never forget my memory of the day you took me to that Kamabakka-ish bar! Thank you for being Franky for so long!! No matter where you go, you’ll always be our nakama!! And Subaru-san, I’m looking forward to having you on board!! And with that- Hello to everyone at Jump Festa!! Eiichiro Oda here- physical, primitive, and glamorous. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the anime, and it’s been a whirlwind of events from the opening of the Harajuku shop to the launch of the One Piece BASE app* and before you know it, 2024 is coming to an end. I extend my deepest gratitude to our large team of staff! Fan Letter was so good, too! But what stood out the most for me was my first visit to South Africa, where the live-action series is being filmed. As reported earlier, I was moved by the love the cast and crew have for One Piece, and I was filled with a renewed sense of resolve.

As for the manga, we’ve finally arrived in Elbaf! It’s a laid-back kingdom, but the serenity is about to be shattered by the arrival of a particular man! Meanwhile, there will be tumult in other seas as well! And at last, that one guy will begin shaking up the world!

The vast majority of Oda’s message was centered around Kazuki Yao, Franky’s voice actor who recently revealed that he was stepping down from the role due to health-related issues. Oda also addressed One Piece Live Action, but fans were truly most interested in his message about the Elbaf Arc.

It has already been made clear in One Piece that the Final Saga will not just focus on the Straw Hat Pirates, but on individuals far and beyond. As such, the Elbaf Arc is likely going to turn focus to other Yonko as well, but, the biggest of developments will most definitely take place in the country of the Giants.

When it comes to Elbaf, Oda clearly stated that this country has been enjoying peace as of late, but that this peace is going to be shaken by the arrival of a certain man. Clearly, this certain man is Shanks’s brother, who was seen arriving in the country at the very end of One Piece chapter 1134. The fact that this very panel was teased in Jump Festa 2025 stage goes to further highlight that Oda was referring to him. Why exactly Shanks’s brother was sent to Elbaf and what exactly he intends to do there remains to be seen still.

However, fans already know that he is going to cause chaos on this island. This is simply down to the fact that Oda himself stated that Elbaf’s peace is going to be shaken by his arrival.

Fans now know Shanks might have a twin brother in One Piece. However, an overlooked possibility is him having a sister.

This essentially means that Shanks’s brother is going to be fighting in this country, or, even worse, paving the way for an invasion or attack from the World Government on Elbaf. There are certainly many possibilities here, but what can be said for sure is that Elbaf faces doom right now, and Shanks’s brother might just be the harbinger of this doom.

Elbaf might have enjoyed peace over the course of the last few years. However, now, things are going to be different. It is highly likely that Elbaf will be on the target list of the World Government, and this might simply be due to Luffy’s presence in the country. Luffy’s identity as Nika is very well known among the Five Elders, and at the same time, Imu. The latter most definitely wants Luffy gone, and one of the biggest reasons why he executed Saturn was simply because he let Luffy go. But, while Saturn failed to do the job, Imu might just have decided to send someone else in his tent.

That is precisely why Shanks’s brother and another mysterious hooded individual were sent to Elbaf. Now, it is interesting to note that these two individuals likely do not possess the strength to destroy the entire country and beat Luffy as well. They might be here on a more elaborate mission and that is to orchestrate a large-scale attack on Elbaf, potentially using the Ancient Weapon Uranus. It must be remembered that the World Government now holds more Motherflame than ever before, and while the previous shot that wiped out Lulucia was only a test shot, now, Elbaf could essentially be wiped up completely. This could be made possible by none other than Shanks’s brother, and this would aid him in battling Nika and essentially destroying him for good. Things in Elbaf are certainly heating up, and if there is one thing that fans can take from Oda’s message, it is that Ragnarok is on its way already.
