One of the most significant character in One Piece has been nerfed by Eiichiro Oda and will soon become a big threat to Luffy and other pirates.
SUMMARY
Akainu is one of the most dangerous characters in One Piece.
However, ever since he has been promoted as Fleet Admiral, his character has been nerfed.
But once he make a comeback to the central story, he will be the biggest threat to Luffy.
Over the course of his journey in One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, has amassed a huge list of opponents who are ever ready to take him down as they see him as a threat. Out of all those opponents, the one that might prove himself to be the biggest threat will surely be Akainu, the current Fleet Admiral of the Navy in One Piece.

Akainu has been posed as one of the most significant villains in One Piece, whose belief in Absolute Justice makes him an absolute menace. He is strictly against the world of pirates and is willing to go to any lengths to free the world from their tyranny. In fact, this is one of the main reasons why he had already been given the tag of a One Piece antagonist.
While Akainu’s threat is certainly dangerous for Luffy, Eiichiro Oda has managed to save him from the final war with a neat trick that fans might not have noticed. This way, when he finally makes an appearance in the central narrative, his impact on the One Piece storyline will be tenfold.
Akainu got nerfed by Eiichiro Oda
When Akainu was first introduced in One Piece, he was portrayed as a threatening Admiral who was a believer in Absolute Justice and did not tolerate pirates in any way. Not only that, he also followed all the orders of the World Government no matter how heinous they were.
He believes that peace needs to be restored no matter what the cost and this kind of thinking makes him very dangerous. However, when he got promoted to Fleet Admiral, his berserk nature had to be compressed as his duties and his commitment to the World Government increased, and he had to be responsible for his actions.

Thus, although he started doubting the World Government’s orders, he couldn’t do anything about it. Also, he couldn’t completely follow his policy of Absolute Justice because in doing so, he might disrupt the name of the World Government in One Piece. This way, Oda managed to nerf Akainu and control him for a better part of the story, where he might pose as the most dangerous villain in One Piece’s history.
Akainu might become the greatest threat in One Piece
As mentioned above, Akainu has been completely nerfed by Eiichiro Oda, and he has no option left aside from observing everything from the corner. While he is commanding the Navy in his own way, the orders they are following come from characters sitting above him. Thus, all of this has become incredibly frustrating for him as a significant One Piece character.

Plus, the havoc that pirates like Luffy, Kidd, and Blackbeard have caused in One Piece is also questioning his authority as a Fleet Admiral. This is why it looks like he might soon break free from all the authorities and commitments and decide to wreak havoc on the pirate world. This would also fit perfectly with his character’s personality and his belief in Absolute Justice.
Not only that, it would also make him a complete menace and probably the biggest threat to pirates like Luffy, who are soaring to new heights of the pirate world with every One Piece arc. If this happens, Akainu’s return to the central narrative will surely be one of the greatest moments in One Piece’s history.
