Taylor Swift Eras Tour: Map Shows Which Countries Got Biggest Economic Boost

New data has revealed that the Eras Tour grew the global economy by over $9 billion, after Taylor Swift performed in 19 countries across the world.

The Eras Tour saw Taylor Swift visit countries in six continents, with two legs in the U.S. and an extended stay in Europe. The tour broke several records, beating out Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour to become the highest grossing concert tour by a female artist ever.

This success had a significant impact on the economies of the countries that Swift performed in, with all 19 of the nations she visited seeing estimated GDP growth of over $20 million in the wake of the tour, according to an analysis of reporting.

For two nations, the U.S. and the U.K., growth after the Eras Tour exceeded a billion dollars.

When mapped by Newsweek, the data, which was gathered by Action Network from a variety of local economic reports, revealed that the average economic boost provided by the Eras Tour was $462 million.


The U.S. was the biggest beneficiary of the tour, experiencing a $4.3 billion boost for the first leg of the tour, according to Action Network’s analysis, as well as an additional $680 million from the second leg, which saw Swift perform in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis.

The second-largest growth was seen in the U.K., which despite having a smaller population that other countries on the tour, saw GDP growth of $1.26 billion. Swift performed in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, as well as London.

Third on the list was Australia, reporting growth of just over half a billion dollars, meaning majority-English speaking countries benefitted the most from the Eras Tour.

However, huge gains were seen across the world. Despite having a smaller proportion of English speakers, Japan reported growth to the equivalent of $230 million, beating out France, Italy, Germany, and Ireland.

According to the findings, the smallest growth was seen in Spain, with a boost of $26 million. Growth from the Eras Tour was created by demand for hospitality, retail, transport, and other entertainment in host cities and countries.

The BBC reported that “Swiftonomics” had a major impact on fans, with the average concert attender spending £848 ($1,078) on tickets, travel, accommodation and outfits, boosting the local economy.
