Taylor Swift smashing all records with her recently released Eras Tour book might indicate that the golden age of fiction is finally over.
SUMMARY
Taylor Swift is breaking all records with the release of her Eras Tour book.
The sales of the vinyl and CD editions of The Tortured Poets Department: Anthology doing as good would put her back at No. 1 on the charts.
The massive sales of the Eras Tour book might suggest that the golden age of fiction could be over.
Taylor Swift released her Eras Tour book on Black Friday and has already been reaching insane milestones. According to a reputed physical book sales tracker, it has now become the second non-fiction book ever to achieve this amount of sales in a single week. The first place is held by former POTUS Barack Obama’s A Promised Land, with 816,000 copies sold in a week.

However, what makes Swift’s achievement even more surprising is that it reached close to that milestone in just two days. Whereas, Obama’s book’s tracking records state that the number was for a full week. As it stands, the pop star might just break the glass ceiling when a full week of sales ends.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Book Smashes It Out of the Park
According to the Associated Press, Circana BookScan, which is regarded as the most reputed physical book sales tracker, reported that the Midnights artist has sold 814,000 copies in just two days since it went on sale. What makes this achievement more impressive is that her book is only available through a single retailer, Target.
At $39.99, the book boasts a hardcover copy of 256 pages that include the most magnificent concert photos, and some facts and stories from the tours that might have been previously unknown to even the most die-hard fans.

One might think that the decision to sell it through only one retailer might have hurt the sales, but the fans have been hard at work to overcome such silly predictions.
Taylor Swift has not only single-handedly topped Target’s sales, but according to a report by The Wall Street Journal, it has ordered 2 million copies of the coffee table book in preparation for the fan frenzy. Even though the book has not gone through an official publisher, and some have pointed out mistakes in the same due to that, it is certainly not hurting the sales.
Taylor Swift Is Having A Splendid Year
The Wildest Dreams singer has been having an excellent year all around even before her book went and broke records. Currently, her most recent album The Tortured Poets Department: Anthology vinyl and CD editions are also on sale, which again has been a huge hit among the fans. The sets were released along with her book on Black Friday and are also being sold solely through Target.
The sale records of the Anthology will be declared by Luminate and Billboard after a full week has passed, and Taylor Swift and her fans are waiting for the official numbers to begin celebrations. According to Hits Daily Double, if the sales perform as per their prediction, her album might top the charts once again, with about 388,000 sold units in a week.
Target and Swift’s representatives might also be waiting for the full week of sales on the Eras Tour book before they announce the groundbreaking numbers. It will be interesting to see if the Eras Tour book indeed ends up surpassing even JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books as the days go by, as many are predicting.
In fact, with Barack Obama‘s A Promised Land, and now Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour charting the tops of non-fiction physical book sales with such massive numbers, some are also wondering if the golden age of fiction might be over.
