While Hunter x Hunter got a second anime adaptation, Yu Yu Hakusho got a live-action adaptation in 2023 that was abandoned by Netflix.
The series needs a second anime adaptation with better style that would help the story regain its popularity.

If Yu Yu Hakusho needs to earn his fame and recognition back in the industry, it needs a Hunter x Hunter-style anime remake. Yu Yu Hakusho is a great narrative with many thrilling developments and enticing characters, and if it gets a new anime adaptation, it is bound to become a bigger success than its first anime adaptation.
Netflix Might Have Abandoned Yu Yu Hakusho Live-Action
Last year, when Netflix was at full throttle in releasing multiple live-action adaptations, Togashi’s Yu Yu Hakusho was picked to be one of them. The live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho followed a similar storyline as the original manga series by Togashi, revolving around Yusuke Urameshi and his adventures as a Spirit Detective.
While the live-action adaptation didn’t see as much success as One Piece, it still managed to break through the curse of live-action adaptation by producing decent numbers. The series was among Netflix’s biggest non-English shows of 2023, with a whopping 17 million viewers, making it the biggest Japanese show on Netflix in 2023

Despite strong viewership numbers, Netflix has yet to announce a second season of Yu Yu Hakusho. While other live-action adaptations on the platform received second-season renewals, Yu Yu Hakusho was the only one left out, indirectly suggesting that Netflix may have abandoned the series.
Yu Yu Hakusho Deserves An Anime Remake
Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the greatest works by Yoshihiro Togashi. The series is considered to be one of the pillars of the manga industry that helped in its globalization. While the manga series was appreciated greatly, the anime adaptation is not able to live up to the expectations of fans because of the difference in the animation style.

Yu Yu Hakusho is based on an intriguing concept, and the storyline has almost everything that is required to make the series a success. However, the anime series is believed to be outdated in terms of animation, and it does not do justice to the thrilling plot. This is why the series desperately needs a remake just like Hunter x Hunter got in 2011.
With the current style of anime that is trending over the world, Yu Yu Hakusho might be able to become an even bigger name than Hunter x Hunter. Not only that, the series might bring back the lost love for Togashi’s works, which were considered to be the gem of the industry when they were first released.
