Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi has asked for the prayers of her followers on social media, after sharing that her dad was currently in hospital.

Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates took to the field in their fourth game of the NFL season on Sunday, making the trip to California to take on the Los Angeles Chargers at the SoFi Stadium. And it proved to be a worthwhile trip for the Chiefs, who defeated the Chargers 17-10.

The Kansas-based franchise, maintained its 100 percent start to the NFL season, after three previous wins over the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Atlanta Falcons.

Despite the victory, Mahomes’ mind may well have been elsewhere, with his family watching the action from hospital back home. Sharing a photo on X, Mahomes’ mom, Randi shared an image of her dad’s hospital bed, with the Chiefs-Chargers match on the TV in the background.

Also pictured by the bedside was Mahomes’ sister, Mia. Along with the photo, Randi added the caption: “Watching game with daddy today… prayers please for my dad.” In the replies, hundreds of fans rushed to offer their well-wishes to the Mahomes family.

“You and your father are in my prayers, Mama Mahomes. Stay strong,” one fan tweeted, before a second added: “I am praying for your dad as well as for you and your family. I pray especially for your strength and peace.”

The love continued to pour in for the family, with a third fan responding: “Sending so much love, tons of hugs and even more prayers!” before a fourth went on to comment: “Praying. I’m sure he is so proud of all of you, and also enjoys telling the nurses, ‘That’s my grandson right there!'”

On the back of Randi’s post on social media, her father’s condition was picked up by callers of the game Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, who sent their best wishes live on air. Randi has become a popular face among Chiefs fans thanks to the success of her son, Patrick.

Whilst she appears to have more than embraced this whilst her son has announced himself as a modern football great, she has admitted the fame is often hard to deal with. She told ‘The Mom Game’ podcast in July: “We just want to be normal [as a family] and go and have dinner. We don’t do that…

“At my work, it’s really hard because 90 percent of my phone calls aren’t about work,’ she said. ‘I still go to work and want to live normal… As much as I say we’re blessed and Patrick’s living his dream, it has been the hardest seven years of my adult life. It’s been really hard to juggle… being proud of him and the hate that you get and the kids get. I can’t even explain how hard it’s been. I’ve cried a lot. I struggle with it.”
