Seth Myers said he doesn’t “think Donald Trump’s a good person”
The late-night hosts started their shows with similar rehearsed acts expressing their disappointment over Trump’s historic win.
Jimmy Kimmel’s act showed him prepping to leave the country before he walked on stage.
The 65-year-old branded election night “the worst taco Tuesday of my whole life” and said: “I spent a lot of time over the past 17 hours thinking about what I would say tonight, or even if there is anything to say tonight, and there’s nothing, goodnight everybody.
“Those of you who are hate watching this show right now wanting to watch me suffer, you will be happy to know that there was no joy in Mudville last night.”
Kimmel was seen pushing back tears as he admitted it was a “terrible night”.
He continued: “Let’s be honest, it was a terrible night last night.
“It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hardworking immigrants who make this country go.
“It was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him, and guess what, it was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too, you just don’t realise it yet.”
He then claimed it was a good night for Vladimir Putin, polio, Silicon Valley billionaires and the “wriggling brain worms who sold their souls to bow down to Donald Trump”.
He said: “I’ve been trying to come up with something positive, the best I can come up with is we’ve been through this once before and yes this time it’s probably gonna be worse, maybe a lot worse.”
“I’m disappointed, I know a lot of you are too. I thought commonsense would prevail.
“I’m so stupid, I always think it’s gonna but for a lot of people this just isn’t important. It’s not high on their list.”
NBC’s Seth Meyers had a seemingly calmer reaction joking that nobody knew who he supported.
He said: “I don’t think Donald Trump’s a good person. I will even go as far as saying he’s a bad person.
“Now in my defense, I’m only basing that on everything that I’ve ever been taught about what makes someone good or bad.
“This is real and this is something I accept. Half the country thinks he is a good person or that don’t care that he’s not and thinks he’s a good president.
“And because of that he’s going to be our president again.”
Meanwhile, Stephen Colbert had a more somber response as he started The Late Show – before mocking the world’s reaction to the election results.
He said: “If you watch this show regularly I’m guessing you’re not doing great. Yeah, me neither.”
He advised his audience to not be alone during “times like this” and expressed gratitude for doing a “comedy show”.
He said: “No one gets into this business because everything in their life worked out great. So we’re built for rough roads.”
Finally, Jimmy Fallon made some jokes during the opening of The Tonight Show.
He said: “Well guys last night America decided to get back with a crazy ex and elect Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States.
“No matter who you voted for I think we can all agree that it’s going to be a rough Thanksgiving.”

Meanwhile, other celebrities have shared their reaction to Trump’s win with some being more dramatic than others.

Trump’s pal Elon Musk celebrated his win with a picture of a rocket taking off on X, writing: “The future is gonna be fantastic.”
But not everyone was thrilled about the election results – with some celebs previously vowing to leave the country if Trump became President.
Singer Cardi B shared a video with her head in her hands to Instagram, and a caption that read “I hate ya’ll bad”.
And Cara Delevingne posted a bitter note to her Instagram story – laying out her plans for the next four years.
She wrote: “A message to my friends: Trump will win the White House. The GOP has control of the Senate.
“This is gutting yes, but freeing too. We get to make every day over the next four years hell for fascists, misogynists, bigots and liars.
“This is not the time to shrink. Nor the time to despair. This is the time for that classic Disney, larger than life, kinda gay, impossibly well dressed, unbelievably cool villainy. That punk rock, black parade guerrilla s**t. This is our villain era.
“Make art. F**k s**t up. Build power. They are about to learn the hardest thing about gaining power is keeping it.”
