Assuming he declares for the NFL Draft next year, Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders will be one of the first quarterbacks off the board.
Shedeur Sanders, the son of Buffs head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, is coming off a tremendous 2023 season in which he completed 69.3 percent of pass attempts for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and only three interceptions with four rushing scores.
Sanders is widely regarded as one of the top three QB prospects for 2025, along with Texas Longhorns star Quinn Ewers and Georga Bulldogs signal-caller Carson Beck.
ESPN’s Jordan Reid spoke to multiple scouts about their views on Sanders as the 2025 NCAA football season draws closer. In his piece, Reid floated the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys as potential landing spots for the 22-year-old.
“The Raiders reportedly did extensive homework on the 2024 QB class prior to exploring a potential move into the top three. But after being unable to secure their QB of the future then, the team could try again to solidify that spot next offseason…
The Giants ultimately stayed at No. 6 and took LSU receiver Malik Nabers instead, but they head into next season with (Daniel) Jones and veteran backup Drew Lock at the top of their depth chart. If New York stumbles to another 6-11 season (or worse), it will likely be searching for a solution under center…
Dallas is probably a long shot, even if the Sanders family tries to exert control over Shedeur’s landing spot. The Raiders and Giants seem to be the most logical destinations for Sanders if he proves to be a first-round talent. Las Vegas is particularly intriguing as a team that has playmakers on offense — Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers at receiver and newly drafted tight end Brock Bowers — but major questions at QB.”
A lot can change between now and next year’s draft, so it’s anybody’s guess where Shedeur Sanders might land. For all we know, Aidan O’Connell or Gardner Minshew II will lock themselves in as the Raiders’ long-term starter.
Daniel Jones could save his job if he regains his 2022 form, and that’s not quite out of the question with Malik Nabers arriving as his new WR1. And there’s still a strong likelihood that the Dallas Cowboys will extend Dak Prescott long-term, thus taking them right out of the Shedeur Sanders equation.
But this much is obvious: Whichever team lands the second-generation football player will receive plenty more hype and media attention. And Deion Sanders will be more than happy to provide some of it.
Shedeur Sanders & Buffs Open Season vs. North Dakota State
Sanders and his Buffaloes will try to jump out to a perfect start again when they welcome the North Dakota State Bison to Folsom Field on Aug. 29 in a game that will air on ESPN.
After that, Colorado will begin a mini two-game road trip against the rival Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sept. 7. There’s a possibility that five-star QB recruit Dylan Raiola will be under center for Nebraska there.
