The Golden State Warriors kicked off their preseason with an exciting game against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Stan Sheriff Center in Hawaii. In a nail-biting matchup, Stephen Curry’s team managed to edge out the Clippers with a narrow 90-91 victory.
Curry, who only played 14 minutes, was the focal point for fans throughout the game. When head coach Steve Kerr benched him, fans were visibly shocked, anxiously calling for Curry’s return to the court. As the clock ticked to the final five seconds, “We want Curry” chants echoed in the arena.

The scenario proved the Warriors’ fan base’s deep trust and dependence on their star player. Despite the tense moments, the Warriors closed the game with a win, putting them ahead 1-0 in the preseason.
Curry’s leadership has been vital to the Warriors since he was drafted as the No. 7 pick in 2009. Over the years, he has earned the unwavering loyalty of the fan base by guiding the team to four championships.
However, this offseason saw a significant shift with Curry’s longtime teammate, Klay Thompson, leaving to join the Dallas Mavericks. This departure has only amplified the fans’ reliance on Curry to steer the team through challenging moments.

Waters III impressed with 15 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Moody added 12 points, 4 rebounds, and one assist to round out a well-balanced Warriors effort.
On the Clippers’ side, James Harden and Ivica Zubac put up strong efforts to lead their team to a win. Harden recorded 13 points, two rebounds, and one assist, while Zubac added 14 points, six rebounds, and one assist.
Norman Powell and Kobe Brown also chipped in with 11 points each. But it wasn’t enough to prevent the team from falling short. The Warriors are set to face the Sacramento Kings in their next preseason game on October 10.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily have had to evacuate their home this week because of Hurricane Helene.
The hurricane hit northern Florida pretty hard, causing major flooding and power loss.
Mayfield, his wife Emily, their daughter, and their dog left their residence before the storm hit as a means of caution. Emily furnished her followers with an update on Friday.
“Baker, Koko, Fergus and I evacuated yesterday and are safe,” she said via Instagram. “Our sweet, sweet community got pummeled, but even that doesn’t compare to the people up North who took this storm head on. It’s unfathomable.”
Emily is grateful that Helene did not affect the Mayfield home but revealed she was “praying nonstop” for the people dealing with the impact while also offering tangible assistance.
“I am looking for ways to get out and tangibly help,” she added. “Please send me anything you find, and I will share the good ones.”
