Kevin Durant’s contract extension is a key topic of discussion as the Phoenix Suns approach the 2024-25 NBA season. While he is eligible for a one-year extension worth $59.5 million or a two-year deal worth $123.8 million, Durant has stressed that his focus remains on basketball rather than financial matters.
Durant, set to earn $51.1 million this season, will make $54.7 million next year. A two-year extension would take him into his 21st NBA season, a remarkable milestone for a player of his age. But, despite the lucrative options, Durant is more concerned with continuing to improve and contributing to the Suns’ championship ambitions.
“I’m not even thinking about it,” Durant said. “I’m just going to play out my contract really, and just focus on that. Focus on the team. I haven’t even really had conversations with anybody about a contract. Trying to focus on basketball.”

“I’ve been blessed enough to be in this position for 18 years and so I’m not really focused on the money part of it,” Durant said. “I’m just trying to keep getting better and keep growing my game and see how good I can get. That’s always been my main focus. When the time comes, the time comes. Right now, I got two seasons left on my deal so I’m going to focus on those two.”
Having traded significant assets to acquire Durant in 2023, the Suns are hoping to win their first NBA championship. With Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal forming the team’s Big 3, the pressure is on to make a deep playoff run after last season’s first-round sweep.

Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein expressed the strong relationship between Durant and the team, noting that contract discussions are ongoing. “The relationship is what matters the most. The relationship is in a great spot. I talk to (Durant’s agent) Rich Kleiman, who works with Kevin, all the time,” he said.
Already the NBA’s first $400-million team, Phoenix faces the challenge of balancing its high payroll. Devin Booker will earn $57 million in 2026-27, while Bradley Beal has a player option worth $57.1 million that season. The Suns remain dedicated to keeping Durant as part of their title push.
For now, Durant remains focused on winning. “I’m just trying to keep getting better and keep growing my game,” he said. With the Suns looking to secure their first-ever championship, Kevin Durant’s contract situation is one to watch as the season unfolds.

So when the Steelers took on the Dallas Cowboys in “Sunday Night Football” at Acrisure Stadium, he was there.
The team even posted a video of him wearing a custom Steelers letterman jacket, twirling his Terrible Towel, and waving around a helmet to pump up the crowd.
