Everyone Is Saying The Same Thing About Jason Kelce’s Apology On MNFJason Kelce (Photos via ESPN and Twitter)
Social media is saying the same thing about ESPN analyst Jason Kelce after he offered an on-air apology over the cell phone smashing incident with a heckling fan on Saturday.

Jason Kelce was in Happy Valley for the Penn State-Ohio State showdown on Saturday. While he was walking about, a heckling fan came up to Kelce and called his brother Travis a “f****t” for dating Taylor Swift.

Multiple videos went viral of Kelce smashing the fan’s cell phone and asking, “Who’s the f****t now?” A video of the incident is available below, but be warned it contains disturbing language that is NSFW:

During ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” program, Jason Kelce broke his silence on the incident and expressed regret over what occurred:

“Listen, I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it. In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing…In that moment I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. Bottom line is, I want to live my life…I try to treat people with common decency and respect…Even though I fell short this week, I’m gonna do that moving forward.”

Fans, however, don’t think that Kelce owed an apology for how he acted towards the fan:

Penn State police are currently investigating the incident between the Philadelphia Eagles legend and the heckler. The fan has not been publicly identified.

Jason Kelce’s Message Was Powerful

Regardless of who you think was at fault, Kelce should be applauded for owning up to his actions and words. Even if you think he did nothing wrong, Kelce is right about the importance of not sinking to the low levels of others.

There was a feeling that Jason Kelce might find himself in hot water with the law after snatching and then smashing someone’s phone on Saturday.

Multiple videos surfaced on social media over the weekend showing the former Eagles center being taunted by a fan who was recording him while he made his way to Beaver Stadium for the Penn State-Ohio State matchup.

The person in question, a Penn State fan, was heard asking Kelce, “Kelce — how does it feel that your brother is a [homophobic slur] for dating Taylor Swift?” the fan asked.

Kelce would grab the kid’s phone, smash it, pick it up, and ask him, “Who’s the [homophobic slur] now?”

Penn State University Investigating Incident Involving Jason Kelce

While no action has taken place or been announced, the school is currently in the process of investigating the incident that occurred on Saturday.

According to the school, “University Police and Public Safety is the investigating agency for this incident and that process is ongoing.”

Kelce has not addressed the incident yet, but it’s possible he’s already ironed things out with the fan.
