Travis Kelce can't leave Taylor Swift and creates a potential conflict with the Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ training camp is about to begin for most members of the team — is Travis Kelce “ready for it”? Right now, the answer appears to be “no.”

That’s because Kelce, ever the dedicated boyfriend, can’t seem to bring himself to leave Taylor Swift. The superstar singer-songwriter is performing in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, as part of her globe-spanning Eras Tour — and Kelce liked her first show so much that he is possibly defying Chiefs coach Andy Reid in order to attend the second.

Eagle-eyed Swifties at VELTINS-Arena on Thursday night found Kelce in a private box, eagerly awaiting night two of Swift‘s Eras Tour stopover in Gelsenkirchen. The Chiefs star’s appearance on Thursday comes as somewhat of a surprise, seeing as he is due back in Missouri for training camp beginning Friday.

But Kelce’s decision to attend the second of Swift’s three shows at VELTINS-Arena means he has now attended more Eras Tour shows than Swift has attended Chiefs games — for now, at least. Swift’s lengthy tour concludes in December, theoretically freeing her for Kansas City‘s potential playoff run, as the Chiefs pursue a third consecutive Super Bowl.

Additionally, Kelce clearly has enough locker room gravitas that he does not fear punishment from Reid or from quarterback Patrick Mahomes by attending just one more Eras Tour concert. Kelce — the NFL‘s best-paid tight end — has proven once again how loyal and dedicated he is to his partner, showing that there is more to life than just football (although it’s a big, big part of his life).
