The NFL kicked off Thursday as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Baltimore Ravens. As always, the national anthem and what many fans consider the ‘black’ national anthem were performed ahead of the game.

Grammy Award winner Tasha Cobbs performed the anthem “Lift Every Voice And Sing.” It has been a yearly tradition to have it sung before the opening game of every NFL season, and it seems as though fans are getting upset.

NFL fans are now threatening to boycott the league, as many are expressing outrage with the decision on X. However, there has recently been some discussion from a former NFL Star fighting back at these fans.

Former defensive Chris Long, who played 11 seasons in the league split between the St. Louis Rams, New England Patriots, and Philadelphia Eagles, responded to a tweet calling one NFL fan “Fragile.”

Why Are NFL Fans Upset About The ‘Black’ National Anthem?

The original X post asks, “Why has the NFL replaced our National Anthem with the so-called ‘BLACK’ national anthem?” It should be noted that the league did not replace the National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice And Sing.”

The league doesn’t seem to suffer from fans “boycotting” it. On Thursday night, the Kansas City Chiefs versus Baltimore Ravens game saw nearly 30 million viewers tune in, a record for the league. The 2015 New England Patriots versus Pittsburgh Steelers game held the previous record.

The NFL season will continue through the so-called “boycotting,” which will not affect the league. In week two, the Chiefs will play the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Ravens will try to knock off the Las Vegas Raiders.

Fans are fearing the worst following Jordan Love going down injured near the end of the Green Bay Packers showdown vs. the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil on Friday night.

The Packers performed admirably on the night, but their efforts weren’t enough as they came up short in a 34-29 loss.

Even more worrying than the loss is the situation with Love, whose night ended prematurely, although there were only five seconds on the clock when he was dragged to the turf.

While Love was able to stand on his own, he needed assistance to get off the field.

Fans Reckon Jordan Love Isn’t Going To Be Back This Season

Close-up footage showing the quarterback’s knee buckling under him has been circulating online since the injury, and fans are now suggesting that his season is over based on what they’re seeing.

“That’s an MCL complete tear – bros done for the season,” one wrote.

“That’s an ACL dawg,”  said a second.

“Oh man, that looks bad. Hope it isn’t. But feels like ACL,” a third suggested.

“100% that’s gotta be a tear of MCL approximately 6-8 months,” another comment read.

“Bye Bye Packers season,” someone else wrote.

There’s an ACL vs. MCL debate brewing on social media at the moment, but Packers fans will be praying it’s neither. The team has already ruled out an ankle injury, which is great, but Jordan Love isn’t entirely out of the woods yet, as his knee is the primary concern.

The Packers handed the quarterback a massive new deal in July, signing him to a four-year extension worth $220 million after his playoff exploits last season. They will hope for the best following Friday’s events, though they likely expect the worst.

Xavier Worthy makes his NFL debut! The Chiefs’ rookie wideout wasted no time making his mark on the 2024 season. Worthy showed his blazing speed on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens right from the start. On his very first touch as a pro, he took a reverse handoff from quarterback Patrick Mahomes and sprinted 21 yards to score a game-tying touchdown. NFL Next Gen Stats clocked his top speed at an impressive 18.45 miles per hour during the run.

Even Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill couldn’t help but be impressed by Worthy’s electric performance. It’s clear that Patrick Mahomes now has a new speedy weapon in his arsenal. Xavier Worthy’s explosive play set the tone for the Chiefs’ offense and marked their first touchdown of the 2024 NFL season. With this kind of speed and playmaking ability, Worthy is already proving he’s a standout rookie to watch.

Xavier Worthy: Early Life And Background

Xavier Worthy hails from Fresno, California, where he attended Central East High School. He is known for his remarkable athleticism and earned a spot in the 2021 All-American Bowl. However, the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the game, depriving him of a significant high school showcase.

Originally, Worthy committed to the University of Michigan, a prestigious program with a rich football tradition. However, he reconsidered his options and chose to join the University of Texas at Austin. This decision set the stage for his college career, where he would soon make a significant impact.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs, eager to add a dynamic playmaker to their roster, orchestrated a trade to secure Worthy. They moved up in the first round to the No. 28 pick, previously held by the Buffalo Bills. In the trade, the Chiefs also acquired a fourth-round pick (No. 143) and a seventh-round pick (No. 248) from the Bills. To complete the deal, the Chiefs sent their No. 32 pick, a third-round pick (No. 95), and a seventh-round pick (No. 221) to Buffalo.
