Angel Reese’s rookie season was spectacular, the 22 year old set new records in what she does best, rebounding and dominating the paint. I can’t say for sure, but maybe in any other season Reese’s stats would have worked for her to win the Rookie of the Year award, but this year with the presence and dominance of Caitlin Clark, added to Reese’s injury, it looked impossible for the seventh pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft, even after a record-setting rookie campaign for Reese. Reese finished with 446 rebounds, surpassing Sylvia Fowles’ single-season record of 404, which was later surpassed by MVP A’Ja Wilson and record for rebounds per game.
Angel Reese Credits Fame Over WNBA Salary for Paying the Bills
Angel Reese currently has a 4-year, $324,383 contract with the Chicago Sky, including an average annual salary of $81,096. Just this year, thanks largely to Caitlin Clark, the WNBA saw huge profits, but despite the historic season, she, like many other players, clarified in some Instagram stories that it’s not her WNBA contract that pays her bills, this is what she said:
I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all, I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. I’m gonna do the math real quick. I don’t even know my salary.
