Patrick Mahomes thinks Travis Kelce was pushed into making major change by Taylor Swift

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has revealed how Taylor Swift has finally convinced tight end Travis Kelce to grow his hair out ahead of the 2024 NFL season

Patrick Mahomes reckons that Taylor Swift finally convinced Travis Kelce to grow out his hair, a style move the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback had been encouraging for ages with no success.

Swift stepped out publicly with the NFL star during a Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium last September against the Chicago Bears. Since then, the lovebirds have soared as a major celebrity pair.

Not missing a beat, Swift has been spotted supporting her partner from the stands throughout Kansas City’s triumphant march to clutch another Vince Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers in Vegas. The power couple seized every chance to be together while Swift toured across Australia, Asia, and Europe during the offseason.

With the 2024 NFL season on the horizon and pre-season sessions in full swing, Kelce is back on the field sporting a fresh look. The tight end, basking in the glory of three Super Bowl wins, is making waves with his newly lengthened locks.

Mahomes joked about his endeavours to persuade his teammate to embrace longer hair, only for Swift to come along and effortlessly succeed where he didn’t. Now, Kelce is looking surprisingly similar to his initial NFL days, although it’s happening 11 seasons in, reports the Mirror US.

“You got the old man (Kelce). I’ve been trying to get him to grow his hair out and all of a sudden, Taylor gets him to do it,” Mahomes told NFL Radio, hinting at the significant influence Swift has on Kelce. Together, Mahomes and Kelce are aiming to lead the Chiefs in an unprecedented run to their third consecutive Super Bowl triumph come 2024.

Kansas City may not have been at their peak during the 2023 regular season, but they still managed to defeat the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and the 49ers on their way to Super Bowl glory. “It wasn’t like we have talked about it openly but after the Super Bowl (this year in Vegas) you saw that we were saying that we have got to go and do it,” Mahomes revealed.

“But since we’ve gotten back, it’s just football. I mean, we know what the process is – the day-by-day process of just getting better. This is the hardest week for us, coming back to St. Joseph (the practice camp) after that first preseason game. You saw guys feisty out there today. Guys want to be great and I think that’s the best thing about it.”

However, the Chiefs began the NFL preseason with a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The reigning champions were defeated 26-13 by the Jaguars over the weekend.

Mahomes and his team will next face Caleb Williams and the Bears in their second and final preseason match before launching their NFL campaign. The Chiefs will kick off against the Ravens on September 5 at Arrowhead.
