The Panthers game was stopped following the injury, as medical staff rushed to attend to Sanders.
Eventually, Sanders was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field for further examination.
Fans were shocked by the scary scene, and took to social media to share their positive thoughts for the young star.
“Hoping he will be okay,” one fan said.
“Jatavion Sanders is a dog hope it’s not serious,” another fan said.
“Man, that was an ugly landing for Panthers TE JaTavion Sanders. Hope he’s good,” a third fan said.
“Praying for Jatavion Sanders man thats scary,” a fourth fan said.
“Omg i hope Jatavion Sanders is okay,” a fifth fan said.
Sanders was able to gesture a thumbs up to the crowd while being carted off the field, but there is concern about a serious neck injury or concussion.
Based on the amount of time he spent on the ground, and the type of injury he is being evaluated for, Sanders likely won’t return to the game.
Sanders is having a solid rookie season, slowly gaining more of a role in the Panthers’ offense.
So far, the 21-year-old has 253 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Each week Sanders has played more snaps and gotten more targets from Bryce Young.
Losing him for an extended period would be a big blow to the Panthers’ offensive resurgence.
