The Chicago Sky star is enjoying her first WNBA offseason

Angel Reese crowns her shocking stylistic transformation with another new nickname

Angel Reese‘s branding and visibility off the court is just as important to her overall image as her undeniable skills on the hardwood. Following a superb rookie season with the Chicago Sky that featured a maiden All-Star Game nod, Reese continues to expand her portfolio and recently stunned fans by going blonde as part of a stylistic overhaul.

Since her time in the NCAA as a star player with the LSU Tigers, Reese has managed to weaponize her name, image, and likeness, leveraging her charismatic personality and seemingly-gravitational pull to land sponsorship deals that have netted her millions of dollars — money far beyond what she earns for playing in the WNBA. A new advertisement narrated by Reese has even seen the “Chi-town Barbie” give herself a new nickname.

One of those nicknames that just makes sense

In a spot for Beats by Dre headphones, Reese takes the mic in an ad that features many of the biggest stars in sports today, including Lionel MessiLeBron James, Shedeur Sanders, and Sha’Carri Richardson.

In a voiceover, Reese says “listen, it’s called chasing your dreams for a reason. You gotta go get it. Living legends (Messi), get it. Terminators (Manchester City striker Erling Haaland), get it… Y’all know walking double-doubles get it.”

Walking double-doubles” is an apt nickname for Reese, who last season broke WNBA legend Candace Parker‘s record for consecutive 10-plus point and 10-plus rebound games. Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds as a rookie; the rebuilding Sky narrowly missed the playoffs and fired coach Teresa Weatherspoon, who had established a close bond with Reese.

The identity of Reese’s next coach remains unknown, but Reese herself is very much a known quantity at this juncture — and her presence will only get larger as she prepares for her second season in the W.
