Ben Simmons’ on-court performance during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers often left basketball fans in awe. This impressive run with the 76ers set high expectations when the Brooklyn Nets welcomed him before the 2022–23 season. Nets fans believed Simmons could be the missing piece to elevate their team, but those dreams have yet to be realized.

Recently, Simmons has faced criticism, especially after fans trolled him and his trainer for his trainer’s bold claim regarding his comeback season. However, the star point guard didn’t shy away from addressing his critics during the Brooklyn Nets’ media day on Monday.

“I think people forget me as a player when I’m healthy; I can play basketball; I’m pretty good, right? For me, it’s just being consistent with that and staying on top of my body,” Simmons said.

Getting better every day and staying in the gym with these guys,” he added.

Ben Simmons Set for Full Training Camp Participation

Since joining the Brooklyn Nets, injuries have become a constant setback for Ben Simmons. However, the star player is determined to turn things around this season. After challenging two years, Simmons is aiming for a fresh start and hopes to prove his value to the team.

The Nets’ general manager, Sean Marks, shared some positive news regarding Simmons’ progress during Media Day.

From what we’ve seen so far with Ben, Ben is a full go for camp, which for us, that’s exciting to see. And for him, he’s champing at the bit to be able to get out there and contribute,” Marks said.

Last season was a tough one for both Simmons and the Nets. The team failed to qualify for the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2017-18 season, while Simmons’ season was another forgettable one. He played in only 15 games, averaging 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily have had to evacuate their home this week because of Hurricane Helene.

The hurricane hit northern Florida pretty hard, causing major flooding and power loss.

Mayfield, his wife Emily, their daughter, and their dog left their residence before the storm hit as a means of caution. Emily furnished her followers with an update on Friday.

“Baker, Koko, Fergus and I evacuated yesterday and are safe,” she said via Instagram. “Our sweet, sweet community got pummeled, but even that doesn’t compare to the people up North who took this storm head on. It’s unfathomable.”

Emily is grateful that Helene did not affect the Mayfield home but revealed she was “praying nonstop” for the people dealing with the impact while also offering tangible assistance.

“I am looking for ways to get out and tangibly help,” she added. “Please send me anything you find, and I will share the good ones.”
