“What happened?” host Kelly Ripa, 53, asked as she looked at the cast on Hugh’s finger.
“This is ok. It’s ok,” he let the hosts know.
“I injured my finger like that,” host Mark Consuelos, 53, said. “Did you tear it and pull it down?”
“Yes, I looked down and it was like that,” Hugh, 55, said, making his finger bend in a weird way.
The Wolverine actor said that it didn’t hurt at all.
“I didn’t even know I had done it,” Hugh, 55, said.
The actor told the Live With Kelly and Mark audience and hosts that had to keep his cast on for eight weeks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kelly asked him if he knew how he injured himself.
“I was doing ADR on the set of Wolverine and I was doing all of this stuff and I looked down and my finger was like that,” Hugh said.
“You snapped your finger doing ADR?” Kelly asked.
“That’s how committed I am,” Hugh joked.
ADR stands for automated dialogue replacement, which improves the sound quality of an actor’s dialogue.
Hugh was talking about the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie that is coming to theaters on July 26.
POOR MARK!
Hugh and Mark bonded over Hugh’s injury because Mark injured his finger in September 2023.
“I had a major injury here,” Mark told the live crowd.
He showed them the small splint on his finger while Kelly tried not to laugh.
“I was playing beach volleyball and I went to set a ball, and I feel like it hit my finger just a little strange, and I continue on, and my finger, at the tip, was at a right angle and it just stayed like that,” Mark explained.
He compared his injured finger to his non-injured one to show the difference, explaining that he tried to straighten it out himself, but it didn’t work.
The daytime TV host said that he had what was called a “mallet finger” after ripping a tendon in it.
He also had to be in a cast for eight weeks.
