Former First Lady Melania Trump recently sat down for an interview with Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt, where they discussed a wide variety of topics.  During the conversation, Melania shared intimate, heartwarming details about the early days of her relationship with former President Donald Trump, which began over two decades ago.

Melania began by talking about the fashion industry and how that prepared her for being the First Lady during one of the most polarized periods in United States history. Citing her experience as a model, she pointed out that the intense judgment and scrutiny models endured prepared her for the pressures of being in the White House.

“I think nothing prepared me more to be first lady in front of the world than the fashion industry. the fashion industry, it’s glamorous, but it’s at the same time, very tough, and as everybody judges you, looks at you certain way. So it’s, it can be a mean world, as well. So, nothing prepared me more, for, for this world than fashion. It gives you a thick skin, so it was.” she said.

Melania also recounted the first date she went on with Trump, when the two spent over an hour alone going to look at one of Trump’s business properties. “We went to the on the first date, if you could call it a date, because it was mixed with professionalism,” she said.  “Completely understand now that I know him more, that was so it was so him, and I liked in one way about it, because I, you know, I was the same, and I love the vision that he had and the connection that we had.”

Earhardt said,  “You get in the car and drives to you Bedford and outside of the city, what an hour outside of the city, and he wanted to show you a business or some property that he had, so he was combining business with taking you on a first date.”  Trump pointed out that despite the date being mixed with professional interests, she had a delightful time with Donald.

Describing the quality time she got to spend with Trump, Melania said, “It was very nice, because we were two of us alone in the car for hour, hour and a half, and it’s no other noise, no other people, because at that time, he was already known and a celebrity. So it was really nice to be just two of us.”  Earhardt then asked, “Did you fall in love? Then?”  Melania replied, “It was a connection. It was a connection.”

The host then asked Melania if Trump began talking about his future presidential aspirations at any point during this time in their early relationship.  The former First Lady indicated that Trump didn’t specifically hint at becoming president but was always tuned into politics.  “So not that he would be the president, but he always was involved in politics. He was very in tune what’s going on in the world, especially in this country,” she said.

Melania also detailed Trump’s proposal to her in 2004 at the Met Gala in New York City after the two had been dating for six years.  “Well, it was, first of all, it was my birthday as well, and it was a Met Gala. So it was all in one we were all ready at home, or both of us in black tie. So he proposed that time,” Melania recalled, speaking about the special moment.
