Clark passed 225 assists, breaking a 26-year-old record

CAITLIN Clark is continuing her stellar rookie campaign by breaking another WNBA record.

The Indiana Fever are on fire since the Olympic break ended, and Clark is especially to thank for that.

The team won their second consecutive game 92-75, and Clark hit a major milestone during the game.

She scored 23 points and tallied nine assists, taking her assists total over 225, the previous record for a WNBA record.

Ticha Penicheiro held the record since 1998 when she played for Sacramento.

Penicheiro sent a classy message to Clark after breaking her long-standing record.

“I was always mesmerized about your passing, your court vision and how you make your teammates better,” Penicheiro said.

“So this record is in great hands and continue to do what you do, continue to elevate your game and the women’s game and the WNBA.”

Clark also shared her admiration for Penicheiro after breaking her record.

“Ticha’s been a big fan of mine ever since I was in college and somebody that has always been right there to congratulate me or just be somebody that’s offered advice,” Clark said.

“To pass somebody like her, I’m just forever thankful that she’s been such a legend in our game.”

Clark not only leads WNBA rookies in assists, but she leads the entire league in assists.

The former Iowa Hawkeye standout is averaging 8.3 assists per game.

Clark also owns the single-game assist record in the WNBA with 19.

WNBA fans were baffled with the talent of Clark and shared their awe on social media.

“CC may well be the best all-around basketball player on earth,” one fan said.


“Legend in the making,” another fan said.

“From the court vision to the execution, she’s proving why she’s one of the best in the game,” a third fan said.

“Caitlin Clark is a true baller,” a fourth fan said.

“Fever are rocking. They look fantastic,” a fifth fan said.
