A video from 2019 has come back to haunt Kamala Harris as it went viral on X and popular figures like RFK Jr. and Elon Musk got involved. The video shows Kamala Harris making a statement and people on X saying she could threaten to shut down social media platforms like X if they don’t conform to the government oversight. Elon Musk and RFK Jr seemed to imply that the shut down would be imminent if Kamala Harris won the election and went through with anything she said in the resurfaced video.
Elon Musk and RFK Jr, but supporting Donald Trump, appeared to slam Kamala because she once suggested social media platforms have to “stop” “directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight and regulation.” Kennedy Jr. got involved, saying “Translation: If they don’t police content to conform to government-approved narratives, they will be shut down.”
Despite what RFK Jr and Elon Musk say, there’s probably a very small chance of any social media platform being banned or shut down. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. The government targeted TikTok for a while, for much different reasons, but anything is possible with the Democratic Party considering how far left they’ve gone, and how much common sense they lack. Speculation aside, here’s what RFK Jr. wrote on X when he shared the video below:
Kamala Harris: “He [Musk] has lost his privileges.”
Can someone please explain to her that freedom of speech is a RIGHT, not a “privilege”?Kamala Harris: “There has to be a responsibility placed on these social media sites to understand their power.”
Translation: “If they don’t police content to conform to government-approved narratives, they will be shut down.”
