In an epic and fiery series of Facebook comments posted on Friday, August 30, Jeff Walz, brother of Minnesota Governor and 2024 Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz, sounded off on his brother’s ideology and said that Tim is not the sort of person or “type of character” who should be making big decisions about America’s future.

Jeff Walz’s comments were used by many on the right to argue that the Minnesota governor is not even able to win over his own family members for his candidacy and ideology, much less normal people in the country who are horrified by his handling of the 2020 riots and shocked by his many untruthful statements about his own record.

In any case, Jeff Walz, replying to one commenter who told him to “have a talk” with Tim Walz, wrote that he hasn’t spoken to him in nearly a decade and is entirely opposed to his ideology. He wrote, “Haven’t spoke to him in 8 years. I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology. My family wasn’t given any notice thst he was selected and denied security the days after.”

In another post, Jeff Walz wrote that he has considered doing some sort of Trump rally appearance but is considering if he wants to keep his family out of things. He wrote, “I’ve thought hard about doing something like that! I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it. The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”

Jeff Walz isn’t the only one calling out Tim. In a letter recently brought to light, a former president of the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce, Barry L. Kennedy, called on Walz to remove an inaccurate statement from his 2006 campaign website in which he claimed that he had received an award from the Chamber of Commerce that, in reality, was never issued to him.  Reportedly, the chamber had actually endorsed Walz’s opponent.

“It has come to my attention that as part of your campaign for U.S. Congress, you have posted your biography on your website that claims you received an award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce for your service to the business community,” then-Nebraska Chamber of Commerce President Kennedy wrote to Walz.

Kennedy continued, “I am not going to draw a conclusion about your intentions by including this line in your biography.  However, we respectfully request that you remove any reference to our organization as it could be considered an endorsement of your candidacy. It should be pointed out, however, that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed your opponent, Congressman Gil Gutknecht, for his support of small business issues.”

Walz has also faced fire over his false claims about his military service. Sounding off on Walz retiring before his unit deployed, Minnesota National Guard’s Director of Manpower and Personnel, Col. Ryan Cochran, said, “Governor Tim Walz received his notification of eligibility for retirement on August 3, 2002.  He was promoted to sergeant major (E-9) on September 17, 2004, and immediately began serving as the command sergeant major for the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery while his packet was submitted to the National Guard Bureau to appoint him to command sergeant major (E-9). Once approved by NGB, he was laterally appointed to command sergeant major (E-9) on April 1, 2005. He retired from the Minnesota National Guard on May 16, 2005. Our records do not indicate when he made his request to retire. Leadership reviews and approves all requests to retire. He was administratively reduced to master sergeant (E-8) on May 15, 2005, because he did not complete all required U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy coursework.”
